On Monday, February 13, 2024, the entire team from La Tribu de Dana visited the residents of the Saint-Just-en-Chevalet nursing home (42).
Accompanied by seven dogs (two Old German Shepherd Dogs, one Australian Shepherd, and four Cavalier King Charles Spaniels), we wanted to give the residents a chance to relax, have fun, and interact with our four-legged friends.
After introducing our dogs, we gave a brief overview of the three breeds at our kennel, before doing some obedience training exercises with our old-style German Shepherds (Moon and Madiba).
This was followed by a demonstration of search and rescue training with our Australian Shepherd (Janis).
And then, a few exercises and some "clowning around" with our King Charles Spaniels (Rose, Popeye, First, and King).
We wrapped up our visit for the day with a "cuddle therapy" session, and anyone who wanted to was able to give our dogs a little brush.
The residents’ smiles and comments were a reward for us and proof that the event was a success.
Thank you to Benoit and Morgane (apprentice and intern at La Tribu) for their contributions. To Karine (facilitator) for her help in organizing this session and for the photos, as well as to the entire staff and volunteers at the nursing home for their warm welcome.
